Things to do in Pensacola, Florida

Known for its fine sugar-white beaches, Pensacola offers a lot more than you can imagine. Although the beaches are supreme when it comes to what the city offers, there are other fun non-beach activities and sites that you can enjoy in Pensacola, Florida.  People come to Pensacola for its colorful history, stunning white beaches, and premier attractions. It is not so difficult to find an activity that will fit your interest when you are in Pensacola. It could take a week to talk about all that's in store for you in Pensacola, so here is a list of some of the things you can do out of the many things Pensacola offers for visitors like you.

Big Lagoon State Park

The Big Lagoon State Park is home to a number of ecosystems like saltwater marshes and pine flatwoods. The park boasts of its beautiful beaches, canoeing and kayaking activities, as well as fishing and hiking. Visitors can have a picnic in one of the seventeen picnic areas complete with grills.Trees live a look time, so consequently, they can be a big part of our lives.   A lifetime of memories may be associated with a tree you grew up with, planted, or otherwise cared for.  To remove a tree with such sentimental value can be difficult; and, given the other reasons noted here, unnecessary.   We recommend going out of your way to salvage a tree that you and/or your family have emotional times with as it could continue to make memories for you.  

5 Flags Speedway

If you want to witness an exciting race, visit the 5 Flags Speedway from March to October. With its corrosive surface, it makes a really fast track. Many people dub it as the top short track in all of America. 5 Flags Speedway has been holding regional competitions since 1953. 

Condor Sailing Adventures

Pensacola has something in store for those who love cruising adventures. Condor Sailing Adventures will take you to a two-hour fun cruise in its extraordinary Condor racing trimaran. The tour only takes a maximum of six passengers at a time, so you do not have to worry about being too crowded. 

Pensacola Lighthouse and Museum

Be amazed by the popular Lighthouse and Museum of Pensacola. Before you can go to the top of the lighthouse, you need to climb 177 steps. The sweat you shed is nothing compared to the beautiful scene you will witness once you've reached the top. There is an admission fee of $7 for adults and $4 for children and the elderly, even those in the military. 

Gulf Islands National Seashore

Pensacola offers white beaches with clear water in Gulf Islands National Seashore. Visitors are drawn here to go camping, swimming, go boating, or scuba diving. The park is also home to different wildlife, so if you are lucky, you can see armadillos, otters, and beavers in the area. 

Minor League Sports

Sports enthusiasts will enjoy the great minor league sports in Pensacola. Sports like hockey and baseball are some of the sports that locals of Pensacola enjoy the most. 

​National Naval Aviation Museum

The National Naval Aviation Museum is the world's biggest aviation museum. It is situated on Naval Air Station Pensacola. The museum has more than a hundred and fifty aircrafts exhibits. Visitors can see biplanes, helicopters and the Blue Angels Skyhawks. The museum is complete with stores, coffee shops, and an IMAX theatre.

​Naval Air Station

Naval Air Station was the military training facility of Senator John McCain. It also houses the world-renown Blue Angels. The great thing about the National Naval Aviation Museum inside the Naval Air Station is that entrance is free. You can then go about the exhibits where you will have an idea of how it feels to be in a camp in Vietnam or what you can see at the moon. Plus, there is no time limit. You can stay inside as long as you please. 

​Veterans Memorial Park and Wall South

The park commemorates the great men who laid their lives for the honor of the country. Wall South is an exact replica of the Vietnam War Memorial located in Washington, D.C. Vietnam veterans raised funds to buy the replica because of the emotional impact it had on them.

​Pensacola Pedal Trolley

Tour the city in a more fun way with the Pensacola Pedal Trolley. It is a pedal-operated vehicle that can carry a total of fifteen people. If you are looking for an extraordinary way of exploring the Historic District, Pensacola Pedal Trolley is the best way to do it. Just recently, it started its Sunday Brunch Tours. Visitors can eat at different brunch restaurants with discounts on drinks. ​

​​Fort Barrancas

You wouldn't want to miss the vibrant history offered by Fort Barrancas. It is located in the Gulf Islands National Seashore overlooking the bay. It makes a great military angle because they can see ships that pass through the bay. It is organized by the National Park System. It has a visitor's center which features historical displays and artifacts and a bookstore. You can either explore the fort on your own or you can join a tour group. 

​​Historic Pensacola

This 8.5-acre land features 28 historic properties. Only eleven of which can be entered by the public. The area also boasts of four museum that includes the Pensacola Children's Museum, T.T. Wentworth, Museum of Commerce, and the Museum of Industry. Visitors can also travel through the different historic homes that come in different architectural designs.

It is one of the most famous beaches in Gulf Breeze because of its good location relative to shops, eateries, accommodations, and other shops. It is known for its fine sand and its giant beach ball painted water tower. Visitors are drawn to the beach because of the many things it offers. ​

The Gulf of Mexico is abundant with shipwrecks and reefs. Visitors will surely enjoy diving in the Gulf, regardless of their level.
